DES MOINES METRO FOOD PANTRIES NEED OUR HELP

Food pantries around the metro need more donations as they keep up with higher demand during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Volunteers at the Adopt-A-Cause Pantry in Des Moines said the number of families in need of help has doubled since the pandemic began.

The pantry has a limited supply of food. Donations are gone down because grocery store have less to donate.

The Adopt-A-Cause Pantry is open on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 2409 Southeast 6th Street in Des Moines.

Another organization is helping small businesses and families in need during the pandemic.

Nicole and Chad Torstenson started “Iowa Together.”

Nicole owns a small business. Chad works in an emergency room.

They’re taking donations to buy gift cards from local businesses to hand out to families in need.
