DES MOINES, Iowa —

Lots of businesses are gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day. It’s been two years since the public has been able to celebrate this holiday without any restrictions.

Streets will be blocked off beginning on Wednesday night to prepare for Thursday’s festivities.

Johnny’s Hall of Fame will be opening its doors around 9 a.m. on the holiday.

“I think people are ready for events to come back online and for lives to get back to a little bit more like normal,” said Jimmy Owens with Johnny’s Hall of Fame.

After a two-year hiatus, the St. Patrick’s Day parade will return this year.

A tailgate at Western Gateway Park will be introduced this year. It will feature a beer garden and a silent disco for kids.

Thousands of spectators are anticipated to come to the parade that will have more than 100 floats.

The St. Patrick’s Day parade will kick off at noon, starting at Exile Brewing at 1514 Walnut Street and ending at the Marriott Hotel downtown at 700 Grand Ave.

There will be a $5 fee to enter the tailgate.

Those funds will benefit the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of Central Iowa.
